Randolph Franklin Kirchner, 81, originally of Bay Shore, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at his home in Fayetteville, NC.
Randy, as he was known, was born in Islip, NY to Hugo and Elva Kirchner (Jasson), on July 25, 1939. He grew up in Islip and Bay Shore, NY. Eleven years ago, he and his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ellen, moved to Fayetteville, NC. There he enjoyed spending time with his family as well as his friends at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
Randy was a US Army veteran who served his country in the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country, he spent 40 years as a parts manager in the auto industry. He was an active member in the parish of St. Patrick’s (Bay Shore, NY) as a eucharistic minister both in the church and the hospital. He was also involved in the community as a school board member of Bay Shore Schools.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Elva Kirchner; his brothers Butch Kirchner and Edward Kirchner; his sister Patricia Lamoreaux.
Left to cherish Randy’s memory are his wife, Mary Ellen; his four daughters: Samantha Sexton and husband Daniel of Lithia, FL; Randi-Marie Gonsalves and husband Michael of Fayetteville, NC; Jessica Antos and husband Donald of Sayville, NY; Emily Kirchner of Bay Shore, NY; five grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Rebekah, Ryan and Kaitlin; his brother Robert Kirchner and sister Elva Riccio.
Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Fayetteville, NC on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 7:30am. Military Honors will be given to Randy in a ceremony at Sandhill’s Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, NC.
