Obituary

Patsy L. Hoke (Bare), age 72, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2021.

Born in West Reading PA, she was the daughter of Leroy N. and Jean M. (Klinger) Bare, both deceased.

She is survived by her brother, Larry, husband of Marjorie Bare, Birdsboro PA; daughter, Lori Hoke, Fayetteville NC; son, Michael Hoke, Fayetteville NC; granddaughter, Dorothy Harris, Fayetteville NC; niece, Melanie Fauvelle, Elkton MD; niece, Jamie Yarger, Morgantown PA and nephew, Jeff Bare, Birdsboro PA.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Bare, Reading PA.

Patsy graduated from Wilson High School in Reading PA and attended college at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa OK.

Patsy moved from her hometown of Reading PA, to Fayetteville NC in 1985. After working several years at Lakedale Manufacturing, she began working at Big Lots, ultimately retiring (and not missing it one bit) after 20 years of dedicated service.

She loved spending time at the beach with her children and beloved longtime best friend of over 40 years, Dot Harris. Her trips to the Gulf of Mexico and Key West were highlights of her retirement.  If she wasn’t at the beach, she was planning her next trip. She also enjoyed Nascar, attending races twice yearly until they turned Charlotte into a roval and ruined everything, as she would say. She was also a master at Candy Crush, a favorite pastime, where she reached and obliterated levels everyone else could only dream of achieving. Her favorite catch phrase, “I did it”, was shouted multiple times daily.

Patsy also enjoyed gardening, bird watching (as long as they didn’t get too close), HGTV, baking, and jig saw puzzles. She could often be found sitting in her sun room, surrounded by her flowers and plants, working on a puzzle and gazing out her window at her pond, watching the birds.

She will be missed beyond measure and the memories we shared with her will be with us always.

She loved us, but we loved her more.

No formal services will be publicly held.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
