Edna Wilson Harper passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Carolina Inn in Fayetteville. Edna was born in Fayetteville on May 9, 1924. She was a lifetime member of Highland Presbyterian Church and was an active participant in Sunday school and Circle. She attended Salem College and Converse College and was a member of the Kalmia Garden Club and the Coterie Book Club.
Edna was predeceased by her husband James S. Harper, her parents, John M. Wilson, Sr. and Myrtle Cauble Wilson, and her siblings James H. Wilson, John M. Wilson, Jr., Myrtle Wilson Vann and George D. Wilson. She is survived by her daughter Susan Harper Hornaday and husband John, her son James Shields Harper, Jr. and wife Lauren, and her grandchildren Brooks Hornaday Reynolds, Brian Shields Harper, Jenny Hornaday MacKethan, Caroline Harper Penny, Alan Wilson Harper, John Harper Hornaday, and ten great-grandchildren.
Edna was an avid reader, bridge player and puzzle builder. She had a bright and active mind and enjoyed traveling the globe with her husband and their friends. She loved the beach and enjoyed treating her family and friends to her wonderful cooking, including meticulously cleaning crabs to make delicious crab cakes even though she was allergic to shellfish and could not enjoy them herself. We will miss the smile on her face, the chuckle in her voice and the dance in her step.

No services are planned at this time. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
