William Grant Wands

William G. Wands (Billy)

Passed away peacefully, Thursday October 10, 2019 at the age of 72.

He was born February 13, 1947, to the late Leroy and Margaret (Mort) Wands in West Palm Beach Florida.

After graduating from Pine Forest High School, Billy joined the US Navy. Four years later, after receiving an Honorable Discharge, he took up working in construction.  There was no project too small for him to tackle.  He had a great eye for detail with woodworking. 

He was a longtime member of the Royal Order of the Moose Club in Fayetteville.  More importantly, he was a lifetime fan of the Carolina Tarheels.  Everything he wore had to contain something from UNC. 

He was a loving husband, daddy, brother and grandfather.  Spending time with his grandkids and going to the beach always brought a smile to his face.

Billy is survived by his son, Coleman G. (Mireille) of Houston and daughter, Pamela Ellingson (Scott) of Bunnlevel,  Sisters Jennifer Smith (Mike) of Fayetteville, Olwen Sims (David) of Texas and brothers David Anthony of Texas, JM and Grant of Colorado, Grandchildren Donte, Taylor, Bryce, Michael and Colby.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Pam.

Family and friends are invited to Sullivan’s Funeral home on October 17, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. before graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Lafayette Memorial Park

At 1:30 p.m. family and friends will have an escorted funeral procession to Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
