Wayne Charles Sorensen, Sr.

Wayne Charles Sorensen Sr., 73, of Fayetteville, NC, passed peacefully on Decemer 20, 2019 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Anna May, children Wayne Charles Sorensen Jr, Kelly Anne Sorensen, Jacqueline Marie Rice, Deborah Ann Sorensen, brother Kenneth Sorensen of South Carolina, and sister Katherine Zak of Florida, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his father, Charles, his mother Vivian, sister Deborah, all of New Jersey and daughter Joanne Near of North Carolina.

Wayne was born on April 28,1946 in Jersey City, NJ to Charles and Vivian.  He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps., having served in the Vietnam War.  Wayne was extremely proud of his United States Marine Corps service and loved his fellow Marines.  Upon completing his military service, Wayne worked in the construction field, oil pollution cleanup and as a long distance truck driver.

Wayne adored spending time with his beloved dogs, Whyley Wrinkles, Whyley Bubba, and Max.  He had a huge heart for physically challenged children and volunteered for many years with organizations, such as Service Source in Fayetteville, NC.

A visitation is scheduled from 1:00pm to 3:00pm  on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service & Crematory in Fayetteville, NC, with military honors. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Wayne’s life.
