Vernetta Yvonne Washington

Vernetta Yvonne Washington was born on October 20, 1965, in Baltimore, MD to the late Vernon Brown, Sr. and Beverly Norris. She moved to Fayetteville and resided here until 2017, when she moved to Greensboro, NC, relocating with her husband Saadiq Washington, until her untimely death on April 23rd at Moses Cone Hospital.

Yvonne was very artistic. She was an expert in beading and making jewelry. She loved coloring, and doing crossword puzzles. She was a very creative cook who enjoyed making artful desserts that were enjoyed by all. Her watermelon creation was not only beautiful, it was absolutely delicious. Believe it or not, she was a huge fan of WWE wrestling insisting that she had the internet to be sure she could watch it.

Family was everything to Yvonne. From everyone who knew her since her early days to the many people that she came across throughout the years. She created friendships and bonds that will never be forgotten. She would call friends and family every morning just to say “I love you” and wish them a great day.

Yvonne touched so many with her heart and kindness. Every person she met would no longer be a stranger but would soon become a friend for always. She blessed our day with her presence. She was one of a kind and will be missed so very much.

Yvonne leaves to mourn her loss,her husband, Saadiq Washington, of Greensboro, NC. Her daughters, Candice Smith-Jones and her spouse Sanovia Jones-Smith, Mahoghany Cameron and her spouse Bobby Cameron. Her grandchildren Jayvien Miller, Laziaya Bethea, and Savion Jones. Her brother Vernon Brown and his spouse LaToya Brown. Her Sister, Karen Dancy. Her step-father, Kenneth Norris (her Mom Beverly Norris preceded her in death). Aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of other family members and friends.
