U.S. Army Ret. SFC Oscar Ewing Wilson Jr.

U.S. Army Ret. SFC Oscar Ewing Wilson Jr., 79 of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016.

He was born on September 7, 1936 in Valdosta, GA, to the late Oscar Ewing Wilson Sr. and Alice Bolen Wilson.

He was a Korean War Veteran, Vietnam War Veteran and also served in the Dominican Republic.  He  retired with the U.S. Army with over 26 years of honorable service and received The Soldiers Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Master Parachute Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal 5 Awards, Bronze Star Medal W/V Device, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm, Vietnam Parachute Badge, Meritorious Unit Citation, and Laotian Jump Wings.  

He is survived by his loving wife of over 58 years Yvonne P. Wilson  of the home; two daughters; Deborah McKnight and husband, Anthony of St. Pauls, NC and Annette Bourgeois and  husband, Richard of St. Pauls, NC; one son U.S. Army Ret. SSGT Robert "Bob" Wilson and fiancée, Terry Swaim of Kernersville, NC; two sisters Betty Hastings, of Tacoma, WA and Geraldine Grimes, of Clinton, MO; four grandchildren;  Meagan McCormick and husband Mitch, Christopher McKnight, Jonathan Wilson and Aimee Wilson; and five great grandchildren James, Brian, Railyn, Skyler and CJ; and host of  nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens with the rendering of full military honors.
