U.S. Army Ret. Lt. Col. Jimmie Carl Turner

U.S. Army Ret. Lt. Col. Jimmie Carl Turner, 76, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmie was born on August 17, 1942 in Wake County, NC to the late Curtis Turner and Myrtle Strickland Sessoms.

He was a Vietnam Veteran and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army as well as the U.S. Air Force. Jimmie retired with almost 30 years of service receiving numerous medals and commendations. His last position was as a Physician Recruiter with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Jimmie was a longtime member of Lafayette Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Goldsboro Masonic Lodge for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years Connie Turner, of the home; one son Chris Turner, of Raleigh.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Lafayette Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Hinson and Chaplain Archie Barringer officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Masonic Home for Children 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565 or the American Cancer Society 8300 Health Park Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615 Online condolences may be made at sullivanshighland.com.

Services are entrusted to Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service & Crematory, of Fayetteville NC.
