Steven W. Sarty

Steven W. Sarty, known to many as Steve, passed away on August 26, 2026, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born on October 17, 1960, in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Steve will be remembered as a man who loved spending time with his family and his beloved dogs. He also enjoyed fishing when he could and found pleasure in listening to rock-n-roll and watching his favorite team, the L.A. Dodgers, play baseball. These simple and meaningful joys reflected the way he lived and the things that brought him comfort and happiness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Roxie Sarty.

Steve is survived by his son, Tyler; his stepdaughter, Jennifer; grandson, Wyatt; sisters, Debbie, Tondra, Ona, and Othelia; brother, Bert Jr.; and nieces, Kelly and Brittany.

Steve’s memory will be carried forward by those who knew and loved him, and by all who shared in the moments that made his life special. May he be remembered with affection and gratitude.  

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 6 pm at Sullivan's Highland Chapel.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5 to 6 pm at the funeral home.
