Sherman Earl Holt

Sherman Earl Holt of Fayetteville, NC had his Homegoing into the arms of his Lord Jesus on August 26, 2023 - exactly 7 years to the date of the passing of his beloved wife, Anne Olivia Bowen. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage together, as well as owned & operated Kitchen Kreations, based in Westwood Shopping Center for 33 years.

He also had the honor of serving in the U.S.A.F. as an air policeman for 4 years. Technically, he joined at the age of 17, because his Dad needed him to drive trucks when he was 15 for the farm and so made Sherman one year older on the driver's license application.

Over his 84 years, Sherman was a certified kitchen designer & master craftsman. He built the home that he & Anne enjoyed right beside the home his Dad had built for his mom (Elbert Wharton & Bonnie Bonniger).

His hobbies included N class trains & radio control airplanes. As a teenager, he earned a World Record for being the first to refuel model planes in flight. He also broke a model plane world record for flight endurance and was featured in Time Magazine:  8 hours, 31 minutes and 50 seconds.

A gentle soul of few words, he was a big church server. His greatest wish was for others to also enjoy knowing Jesus as Lord.

As Sherman's pace slowed, he moved in with his daughter and son-in-law Cindy & Eric Squires and enjoyed watching black & white western shows that he never got to see when he was growing up because he worked all the time. Sweet tea, country ham or fried oysters were his favorites.

Sherman is survived by his sister Jean Walston and brother Jerry Holt. He was preceded in death by his brother William (Bill) Holt.

No services will be held as per Sherman's wish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Transitions LifeCare, who were a gift from God in our time of need. Condolences may be sent to Cindy Squires at 5005 Elaine Ave., Raleigh 27616.
