Sandra Brown Speight

Sandra Brown Speight (Sandy), 76, passed away Saturday April 28, 2018. From Rocky Mount, NC, Sandy spent most of her life in High Point, NC before ultimately residing in Newport, NC.

Sandy spent 35 years in the North Carolina School System shaping young minds until moving to Newport, NC to spend her days near the sea searching for the most unique of antique finds to share with her family and friends. She was an incredible mother, friend, wife and teacher. Her energy infected everyone she met be it an elementary school student, parent, fellow antiquer or stranger. She was shot out of a cannon every day and she made the world better. She provided for her family in so many ways with meager means. Her soul will be remembered in high regard always with her wide smile and strong attitude towards life. We all will miss her terribly.

Sandy is survived by her three sons, James C. Speight III (Trip), Christopher Brett Speight and Patrick Ryan Speight as well as two grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Sunday May 6 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a memorial service starting at 2:00 pm at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service. A short graveside burial will follow at Cross Creek Cemetery for those who wish to attend.
