Roberto Cruz-Aquino

Roberto Cruz-Aquino, lovingly known as Baba, passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on June 7, 1935, Roberto lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, faithful service to his country, and a warm spirit that touched those around him.

Roberto served in the Army for 25 years. During his military career, he served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and was a member of the 1st Calvary Division. In recognition of his service and courage, he earned a Bronze Star. His years in uniform reflected the loyalty and strength that remained part of his character throughout his life.

Beyond his military service, Roberto was a bilingual man and a lifelong learner, always carrying a quiet curiosity and appreciation for the world around him. He was loving, funny, kind, and loyal, and these qualities shaped the way he moved through life and cared for others.

Roberto found joy in life’s simple and lasting pleasures. He loved fishing, watching baseball—especially when the Atlanta Braves were playing—cooking and eating, and traveling with his family. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his great-grandchildren, whose presence brought him special joy. He was a man who loved deeply, and he especially loved his wife of 67 years. Those who knew them will remember the tender sight of Roberto so often holding his dear wife’s hand, a quiet and beautiful reflection of a lifetime of love.

Left to cherish Roberto's memory is his wife, Zoraida; children, Nery, Jr., and Tony; grandchildren, Kara, Keith, A.J., and Nena; great-grandchildren, Miguelito, Story, Nora, Cruz, Adam, Owen, and River.

Of all the blessings in Roberto’s life, his greatest pride was his family. He built a life centered on love, togetherness, and steadfast devotion, and that legacy will continue in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Roberto Cruz-Aquino will be remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration—for his service, for his humor and kindness, and for the deep love he gave so freely to his family. His memory will remain a lasting gift.

The family will host a private service to honor Roberto.
