Retha McDonald Butler, 90, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
Mrs. Butler was born Retha Louise McDonald in Sampson County on July 30, 1921 to Scotch D. McDonald and Nela Faircloth McDonald.
She was preceded in death by husband RC Butler Sr; brother, Buford D. McDonald, and sister Myrtle M. Scott.
Mrs. Butler is survived by her son, Richard Butler Jr. and wife Sandra of Linden; daughter, Sharman Butler of Paris, KY.; son, Cary Butler and wife Vicki of Dacula, CA; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Earlier in her life, Retha was a volunteer Grey Lady for the Red Cross at the VA hospital; member of the Women’s Club of Fayetteville, Inc. and Trinity Baptist Church choir member.
Retha was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service until her retirement.
The family will receive friends at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 31st at Lafayette Memorial Park.
