Ramona A. Byrd

Ramona A. Byrd went to be with our Lord and Savior on Valentine’s Day, Sunday February 14, 2021.  Ramona was born on February 25, 1957 in Killeen, Texas to Millard and Elsie Rainey.

Ramona grew up travelling, coming from a military family.  She attended Pine Forest High School, where she met the love of her life, Keith.  They were married August 17, 1974 in Fayetteville. They were blessed with two sons, Billy and Michael.  They were a military family and as such traveled the world, which included one of her favorite places, Panama City, Panama.  It was there where she found her love of ceramics and art.  She was an avid card player and enjoyed playing Spades with her dear friends, John and Carolyn.

Upon returning back to the states, they settled down in Linden, where they bought their beautiful home on Lake Teresa.  They enjoyed many family gatherings making memories to include firework displays, cookouts, birthday parties, basketball games, swimming in the pool, and going out on the lake in the boat with Keith.  Ramona loved music and dancing, movies and shopping trips.  She loved to travel to Florida and go to the beach to visit family.  She also enjoyed going to South Carolina for long weekends.  She found great comfort being outside feeding the birds and squirrels.  She enjoyed painting rocks with her grandchildren, watching the lake and being surrounded by the ones she loved.  She loved spending time and laughing with her cousin, Donna, who she often referred to as her sister.

Ramona worked for AAFES for 24 years and retired in 2014.  Upon retirement she lived her best life with her husband, children and grandchildren.  She loved to garden and plant flowers.  She absolutely loved to cook and bake for her family.  She and Keith enjoyed many Sunday mornings eating breakfast and shopping with their best friends, Sert and Richard.

Ramona was predeceased by her father, Millard Rainey.
