Phyllis Delores Perry, 78, of Fayetteville, NC died on February 10, 2012 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with loving family by her side. Phyllis was born September 24, 1933, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to Blanche Highsmith Moore and Luther Lee Moore. She was one of 5 children, brother, Billie D. Moore (deceased), and sisters Ina Ezzell, Jean Harris, and Lottie Hedgepeth.  She attended Rocky Mount High School and following graduation, met the love of her life, Robert Lee Perry.  They were married August 13, 1955.

Phyllis and Robert moved to Fayetteville where her life centered around raising their children and providing selfless love and care, dedicating herself to meeting their every need. Although she stayed home early on with her children, she began working for Highland Cleaners part time. Later, with her artistic talents and creative flair, she and her sister, Lottie, opened the Emporium Gift Shop in Fayetteville, running a thriving business for several years.  Later, she became a very successful real estate agent, selling quality homes.  She retired from Coldwell Banker Advantage in August 2010.

She is survived by her husband; Robert Lee Perry, her children, Robin Costello and husband John of Raleigh, Sandy Ruhlen and husband, Brent of Seaford, Virginia, Robert Jr. of Fayetteville and Phillip Perry and wife, Theresa of Fayetteville.  Grandchildren are Brooke Shields, Lindsey Costello, Robert Lee Perry III (deceased), Abigail Costello, Olivia Costello, Zachary Ruhlen, and Nicholas Perry; Great Grandchildren Joseph and Evelyn Shields; her sisters, and many loving relatives.

The celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Home in Fayetteville on Tuesday, February 14 at 2:00 pm. Family will receive guests from 12:30 until 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or Humane Society of Eastern NC.

She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
