Mrs. Rachel Edge Kinlaw, 93, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
She was born on February 3, 1923 in Cumberland County, NC to the late Robert Edge and Lula Carter Edge.
She was a buyer for Belk-Hensdale Department Store for over 47 years. Mrs. Kinlaw and husband Tommy Sr. were charter members of Temple Baptist Church which was organized in 1950. Currently she was a member of her childhood church Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Happy Friendship Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Layton Kinlaw Sr. and four sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by a daughter Ann Kinlaw Faircloth, of Fayetteville, NC; two sons Tommy Kinlaw, Jr. and wife Martha, of Fayetteville, NC and Bobby Kinlaw and wife Sue, of Eastover, NC; seven grandchildren Kimberly (Mehmet) Ergul, of Savannah, GA, Arleen (Mark) Williams, of Fayetteville, NC, Karen (Jeff) Wood, of New Bern, NC, Tom (Felicia) Kinlaw, III, of Fayetteville, NC, Beth (Abe) Mercedes, of Raleigh, NC, Ashley Robert Kinlaw, of Fayetteville, NC, and Travis (Heather) Kinlaw, of Stedman, NC; 17 great-grandchildren Taylor, Nevin, Trevor, Haley, Connor, Carson, Layton, Reagan, Daniel, Cameron, Levi, Kendell, Gabrielle, Meredith, Kennedy, Lauren, and Sawyer; one great-great-granddaughter Ella; and another great- grandchild soon to be among us.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 9:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Mack Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.
