Mrs. Margit Marie Monaco

Mrs. Margit Marie Monaco

Born in Brno, Moravia, Czechoslovakia, December 03, 1921, to Maria nee Link and Anton Wolanek, an industrialist, our beloved Mother left this world on July 17, 2016. Although there are no words to express our profound grief, we find comfort knowing our dear Mother is finally at peace and reunited with her loved ones in heaven.

Our mother led a life that books are made of, often traumatic, but also filled with moments of great joy. Highly intelligent and strong in character, spirit, and faith, Mrs. Monaco spoke 5 languages, held a degree in Philosophy, and was owner of Monaco’s Collector’s Showcase at Cross Creek Mall and a sister store in The Galleria, White Plains, NY. We will always love and cherish how devoted and loving she was to her children. We know she will continue to watch over us from on high.

Margit Monaco is predeceased by her parents and husband of 50 years, Stephen G. Monaco, and her beloved Sheltie, Baci, Sr.

Her surviving family members are her sons, Peter and wife Daphne Monaco, Bob and wife Andrea Monaco, daughters Ellie and husband Lt. Col (ret) James Kelly, Lisa and husband Jay Wheless, Margit and husband George Robert Hicks, III, and her “baby,” Baci Jr. Her grandchildren include David and Timothy Monaco, Elizabeth and Stephen Wheless, George “Alex” and Michael Hicks, and Nicolette Orezzoli. Great grandchildren are Jonathan Monaco and Nathan, Juliana, and Alexander Orezzoli.

Rest in Peace, Mama, and please keep the gates open for us.
