Frances Tyson Melvin Curle, 87, peacefully passed away on December 17, 2015.

Frances is survived by her children, Jim Melvin(Lee) of Fuquay Varina, NC, Joe Curle (Dawn) of Hope Mills, NC, L.D. Curle, Jr. of Chiapas, Mexico, Becky Horn (Kelly) of Raleigh, NC and Kathy Rentz (Dave) of Cincinnati, OH; her eight grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; her sister Joyce Tyson Slaydon (Sammy) of San Antonio, TX;  several nieces and nephews; and devoted caregiver and friend Anne Rushing. She is preceded in death by her first husband, James Melvin, Sr. and her second husband, Lawrence Curle, Sr.; her daughter, Jane Melvin; her son, Tom Curle; and her siblings Elon Tyson Bollinger, Henry Tyson, Sprunt Tyson, and Upton Tyson.  A special thank you to Ed Chavis and HealthKeeperz.

A native of the Gray’s Creek community, Frances spent her life lovingly fulfilling her many roles of daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.  Her family and friends hold most dear the memories of time spent in her kitchen and enjoying her cooking.  Frances also leaves a legacy of her steadfast faith, taking an active role in the United Methodist Church throughout her adult life.  She was a trained cosmetologist owning her own business in downtown Fayetteville in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

A graveside service in celebration of her life will be held at Marvin United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015 with visitation to follow in the church fellowship hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marvin UMC Cemetery Fund, 6740 NC Hwy 87 S, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
