Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" May Fisher

Elizabeth (Betty) Fisher passed away peacefully December 8th surrounded by family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Ira Fisher, and her parents Jim and Isabel Simmerman.  She is survived by her son Robb Fisher, grandson Malachi Fisher both of Syracuse, NY, sisters Mary Groening (Bill) of Fayetteville, NC and Ellen Connors (Bruce) of Sharpsburg, GA. She left behind many loving relatives, friends, and her faithful companions, Watson and Orion.

Born at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and growing up around the world, eventually she settled in Syracuse, NY with her loving husband Ira Fisher. After more than 30 years, raising her family and a career in computer networking, she relocated to North Carolina. Throughout her life she loved the outdoors, canoeing, and camping; the mountains, particularly the Adirondacks held a special place in her heart. Active in several canoe clubs and the dog club, Betty cherished her friends and the adventures they shared. Always ready for new challenges she also embraced the banjo, golf, and other activities.

Betty loved everyone and never met a stranger.  Her deep faith was exhibited by her generous and loving spirit.  Serving as an elder and pianist, Betty was active in the Presbyterian Church both in Syracuse and Fayetteville.  While her smiling face and twinkling eye will be missed by all who knew her, heaven is a bit brighter now with her presence.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at MacPherson Presbyterian Church, 3525 Cliffdale Road, Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to MacPherson Presbyterian Church or to Onondaga Hill Presbyterian Church, 4797 Makyes Rd., Syracuse, NY 13215.
