Mr. Ponnampalam Markandu

Mr. Ponnampalam Markandu, 84, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at his home.

He was born on July 25, 1932, in Jaffna Sri Lanka and he was a former Director of Sri Lanka Customs.

He is survived by his wife Pathminidevi Markandu; sons including Mark Ketheeswaran  and wife Tsi  of Fayetteville, NC, Jegatheeswaran Markandu and wife Inthu of Sydney, Australia, Vakeeswaran Markandu and wife Amirthasri of Toronto, Canada, and Batmesswaran and wife Dusantthi of Melbourne, Australia and a daughter Sivadharshny Gajendra and husband Ranjit Gajendra of Melbourne, Australia;  grandchildren Luckshume, Meenakshi, Meeradevi, Mayurika, Gerthika, Ramya, Steeve Sanjay, Vruksha Karen, Haryharakrishna, Maathangkiteaviy, Kaneeka, Anushka, and Nadeshmark; a brother Sellathurai, of London, England and late Thangaratnam Rajaratnam, Kalviankadu, Sri Lanka.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Care Clinic, Robeson St. Fayetteville, NC 28301.
