Listen to Obituary

Mary Harrison Hall, 85, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on March 4, 2026. She was born on December 8, 1940, to Melda and Rupert Harrison in Fayetteville, NC. GrandMary, as she was affectionately known, was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill’s nursing program. Leaving Carolina with plans to head a pediatric nursing unit in Kentucky, she had a sudden change of heart when she met Dr. James S. Hall. Love at first sight led her to a beautiful and full life.

GrandMary was all things elegant, graceful, and charming. She was a devoted wife, incredible mom, proud grandmother, and loyal friend. An exceptional cook, her nightly 6:00 dinners were highly anticipated and not to be missed. GrandMary’s Thanksgiving traditions will reverberate and be cherished for generations.

She is survived by her four daughters: Mary Melda (Jimmy) Kizer, of Fayetteville, NC; Elizabeth (Bob) Bridges of Charlotte, NC; Virginia (Martin Rierson) Carlan of King, NC; Sarah (Greg) Beasley, of Fayetteville, NC; and her beloved grandchildren Sam, Hannah, Mary Madison, Ben, Solopino, Harrison, Libby, Katy, and Caroline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Samuel Hall, III; her son, James Samuel Hall, IV; her parents, Melda and Rupert Harrison; her sister, Elizabeth Bringle; and her grandson, Stewart Bridges.

Per GrandMary’s wishes, there will be a private graveside service for the family. Friends are welcome to join the family at GrandMary’s home on Saturday, March 7th at 11:00 AM.

The family would like to thank Home Instead, Liberty Hospice, and so many caregivers who became friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Koala Ministry of Hay Street United Methodist Church, founded in memory of Dr. James Samuel Hall, III.
