Martha Olivia Warren Hardison

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Martha Olivia Warren Hardison, 99, of Fayetteville, NC, on July 31, 2025.

Olivia was born January 17, 1926 in Lasker, NC and grew up in Rich Square, NC. She was a daughter of the late Dudley and Troy Warren. Olivia was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Lewis B. Hardison, son, Stephen S. Hardison, son-in-law, J. Mark Butler, and six older brothers and sisters.

As a young woman, Olivia enjoyed working as a telephone operator and at JCPenny, but her true calling was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She found joy in reading on the porch, cheering on the UNC Tar Heels, and enjoying muscadine grapes and Calabash seafood. Visits to Seagrove pottery shops and vacations on the beach were her favorite getaways.

Olivia is survived by her children, David (Eva) Hardison, Durham, NC, Karen Butler, Fayetteville, NC, Chris (Sherry) Hardison, Oak Island, NC, Susan Hardison, Holly Springs, NC, and her grandchildren, Chloe Butler, Beaverton, OR, and Michael Hardison, Raleigh, NC.

A private family service will be held to honor Olivia’s life. Contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
