Martha Hewett

Martha Rose Hewett was born in Louisville, KY, and passed away at home on April 29th, 2025, at the age of 84 in Fayetteville, NC among family and friends. 

Martha was preceded in death by her husband Robert Joseph Hewett Sr; parents Ernest Paul Vowels and Loretta M (Rickert) Vowels; her seven siblings – Patricia Jean Vowels, Rosemary Vowels, Ernst Paul Vowels Jr, Paul Anthony Vowels, Gerald Joseph Vowels, David Ernst Vowels, and Eugene Robert Vowels. 

Martha is survived by her sister Susan Bernadette (Vowels) Esterle, daughter Sally Marie (Roemele) Quinn, and son Robert Joseph Hewett Jr; along with a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Martha was a strong willed and independent soul who worked full time as an accountant for most of her life while also taking care of a family. She loved to crochet, knit, and sew in her spare time while watching her favorite TV series. After she retired, she spent many hours working on her family ancestry while connecting with other like-minded investigators across the world. She loved to talk with her siblings about her accomplishments and never really forgot her sibling rivalry from her younger days. Martha/Mom/Mema will be missed.

A memorial service to celebrate Martha's life will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 11 am in Sullivan's Highland Chapel.  The family will receive friends following the service.
