August 4, 1943 — October 11, 2019

Marshal John Goodman, Jr.

Marshal John Goodman Jr, 76, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday October 11, 2019.

He is survived by his wife Louise Goodman, of Fayetteville, His daughter Heather Adams and grandsons Alexander and Christopher Smingler, of Fayetteville.  He was preceded in death by his father, Marshal John Goodman Sr., his mother Lillian Goodman and brother, Julius Goodman.

He was born in Roseboro NC and was proud to have served his country in the United States Airforce.  He attended Mars Hill College and graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville Ky.

He loved to travel and loved to talk about growing up in Texas and living in New Orleans when he was younger.  He had many hobbies over the years to keep him busy including auctioneering, canoeing, reading and gardening.  He had a generous heart, loved the Lord and wanted to share that love wherever he was.

He was married to his loving wife Louise for 51 years. His 2 grandsons, Alex and Chris, were his pride and joy.  He was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church where he always found sweet fellowship. He was so grateful to have been blessed to be the recipient of an organ donation which gave him several more precious years with his family that he would not have had otherwise.

Visitation will be Tuesday October 15 from 10:45 to 11:45 with a service to follow at 12 pm at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service and burial at Lafayette Memorial Park West on Raeford Rd.
