Listen to Obituary

Mr. Lindsay MacLean Strickland II, 37, of Wade, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, surrounded by family at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh. Known as MacLean and sometimes affectionately as "Big Mac", he was born April 25, 1989.

MacLean was preceded in death by grandparents Mary Ann Strickland; Albert (Buddy) and Cora Atkinson; as well as his aunt, Wanda Rasch. He is survived by his parents, Julie and Lindsay Strickland; sister, Haylie Strickland; grandfather, Thomas L. Strickland; aunt and uncle, Robin and Bobby French; uncle, Al Strickland; along with a number of cousins. He was the only grandson of both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

MacLean played multiple sports from an early age through his graduation. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and all things outdoors until he was injured in a hunting accident. He was very involved in church; especially as a member of the youth program at Culbreth Memorial PHC in Falcon. He was a talented cook and especially enjoyed being the grill master for all family meals.

Big Mac was caring and compassionate toward others, especially his family. He lovingly helped care for both of his grandmothers while they were in declining health. He was extremely close to his grandparents and other family.

MacLean leaves a huge hole in the heart of his family that will never be filled, but we take comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain or suffering from his long-term health issues. We also take comfort that he had a relationship with his Lord and Savior.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 3 pm at Sullivan's Highland Chapel with Pastor Michael Couillard presiding. The burial will follow at McMillan Presbyterian Church. Prior to the service the family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 3 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5648 Eason Road, Wade, NC 28395.
