Kelly Rebecca Moreton

Kelly Brown Moreton, 52, of Hope Mills, died on January 1, 2026, in Novant New Hanover Hospital following a brief illness.

She was a Fayetteville native and was a graduate of Terry Sanford High School and Sandhills Community College.  Following graduation from UNC Pembroke, she worked as a social worker for the Cumberland County Department of Social Services and for the Council of Older Adults.

She is survived by her son, Matthew of the home and her parents, Tom and Julia Brown of Fayetteville.  She is also survived by her extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Hope Mills.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.  The burial will be private.
