Janice Edwards Brantley Childress

Janice Edwards Brantley Childress passed away on Sunday, January 17. She was born on June 16, 1943 in Lee County, North Carolina to the late James O. Brantley, Sr. and Elizabeth Edwards Brantley. While majoring in music at East Carolina University she met her husband of thirty years, the late Clarence G. Childress.

Janice loved her family, cooking, and collecting antiques.  She was the happiest being at the family farm while sharing and creating memories.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother and an exceptional listener to those who needed one.

She is survived by her children and spouses:  James and Nancy Childress, Alan and Ellen Shumate; siblings and spouses:  Joe and Kayren Brantley, John and Mary John Brantley, grandchildren: Chelsea Burns, Rebecca Childress, Sam Shumate, and Alex Shumate.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
