James O. Bean

Retired US Army 1SG James O. Bean, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

James served in the US Army for 24 years, including service in the Vietnam War during which he earned a Bronze Star.  His subtle sense of humor, his care and concern to help anyone out, and the love he had for his family will all be sorely missed.  

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 12 pm at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.  The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday, April 8th, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at the funeral home.

James was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Carol Sue Bean; and son, Brian Keith Bean.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Loy Bean (Janna) and Kevin Bean (Cory); his daughters, Tina Bean and Wendy Baker (Bo); six grandchildren Morgan Barfield, Marshall Barfield, Madison Barfield, Joshua Bean, Kylee Bean, and Kaden Bean; three great-grandchildren Dawson Edwards, Kelsea Hayes and Kanyon Barfield.
