Jacqueline Dalton, a beloved member of her community known for her generous spirit and lively sense of humor, passed away peacefully at her home on May 4, 2026. Born on August 4, 1942, in Vonges, France, Jacqueline led a life marked by warmth, dedication, and deep cultural appreciation.

Jacqueline’s journey began in the picturesque village of Vonges, and her life took a transformative turn when she met her husband, Ted, in Angouleme, France, where he was stationed with the Army. Their shared a lasting partnership beginning with their marriage in 1964 in Columbus, Georgia. Together, they embraced the life of a military family, relishing the adventures, new cultures, and intriguing people they encountered along the way. Jacqueline became a proud U.S. citizen on September 5, 1973, further cementing her commitment to the new country she called home.

Throughout her life, Jacqueline was known for her generous heart and willingness to offer her time and resources to those around her. She took great pride in her volunteer work, especially in teaching Adult Literacy and supporting soldiers in gaining proficiency in French. These pursuits reflected her deep commitment to education and service, enriching the lives of many.

Jacqueline’s personal interests were diverse and passionate. She spent countless hours nurturing her garden, finding solace and joy in caring for her plants and observing the beauty of nature. Her reading was voracious, often delving into historical, political, and environmental topics, reflecting a keen intellect and a lifelong curiosity. Social gatherings with friends and family were treasured occasions, filled with laughter and good food. Jacqueline also had a profound love for classical music and opera. A devoted cat lover, she cared for over twenty stray cats in her neighborhood throughout her 45 years in Fayetteville, making her home a sanctuary for these cherished animals. Her active participation in the French Club, French Circle, and various book clubs highlighted her vibrant social life and her enduring connection to her French heritage.

Jacqueline is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Williams (Wade), who carries forward her mother’s legacy; her grandchildren, Shayne and Rachel Williams, who brought her immense joy; and her brother, Jean Claude Louault, residing in Monts, France, maintaining the family ties across continents. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ted, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage, and by her son Louis.

A graveside service to honor Jacqueline’s life and memory will be held on May 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Highland Meadows section of Lafayette Memorial Park West, located at 6701 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28304. This service will provide an opportunity for all who knew her to pay their respects and celebrate a life well-lived.
