Retired US Army Staff Sergeant Henry Donald Rimmer, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021.
Henry was born on April 29, 1933 in Person County, NC to the late Willie and Aldean Rimmer. He joined the Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War. He made the Army his career and then retired from the military after 20 years. Henry loved his family, being out-doors, gardening, fishing and NASCAR. He was a kind soul whose gentle spirit will be missed.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at noon on Friday August 6th, 2021 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with Pastor Charles Jernigan presiding.
Henry is survived by his wife, Okye Rimmer; step-daughter, Kim Anthony and husband Rick of Florida; daughter, Henrietta McGee; three brothers, William Lionel Rimmer of Cedar Grove, Vance Rimmer of Hurdle Mills and Maurice Rimmer of Roxboro; two sisters, Martha Moore of Hurdle Mills and Vivian Wilkerson of Roxboro.
Henry was preceded in death by his first wife, Mitsuko; and three brothers.
