Emma Lee Hobson, 99, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at her residence with her granddaughter, Angie, by her side.
Emma was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church on Person Street, where she was active and loved serving in various capacities, including favorites, the choir and church library.
Mrs. Hobson retired after years of service with both Womack Army Hospital and Cape Fear Valley Medical Center as an LPN - operating room surgical technician.
She is survived by her four grandchildren, Angie Braskett, Emma Hayes, Joseph Mulholland, and Jessica Hobson; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Sams, Brian Waters, and Kaylee Soule; one great great-grandchild; her two daughters-in-law, Joann Hobson and Glenda Hobson; her sisters, Barbara Small and husband Doug, of Kannapolis, NC, and Gloria Long of Kempner, TX; and brother, Kenneth Cox and wife Vicky, of Asheboro, NC.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Hobson; her son, Daniel E. Hobson, her daughter Linda Hayes, and her son James F. Hobson; her mother Luvena Cox, her foster parents, Fred and Pearl Kite; her sister, Eleanor Pope; and her brother, Lester Cox.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at noon at Second Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:30 am.
