Elfriede “Fritzie” Edwards, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 15, 1934 to the late Fred and Amelia Zendler. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemarie McCluskey.
A firm believer in Christ and the power of prayer, she was a helpmate to her husband in ministry for over 20 years. She maintained a personal ministry of sending cards and words of encouragement to those on her heart. She served faithfully in many churches over her lifetime. She loved the music of the Gaithers and continuing the memory of her family’s love of ice cream. She was loved greatly by her family and many faithful friends. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Fritzie’s legacy is her husband of 54 years, Grady; daughter Carolyn and husband Robert Ivey of Fayetteville; sons, Fred and wife Amy Edwards of Raleigh, Gregg and wife Dawn Edwards of Florida; grandchildren, Aaron Edwards, Andrew Ivey, Hannah Edwards, and Rebecca Edwards; sisters, Bunny Wieland and husband Gene, Dorie O’Mara, both of Philadelphia, PA; many nieces and nephews; and her cherished dog Rusty.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 1 pm on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Journey Community Church, located at 4184 Dunn Road. The family will welcome visitors from 12pm to 1pm on the day of the service.
