Doris Williams Buchanan, 80, of Wade passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center.
Mrs. Buchanan began here working career at the Lakedale cotton mill in Fayetteville, N.C. She then began working in the Motel and Restaurant Industry. She opened and managed many Motels and Restaurants in North Carolina, Virginia and Florida before retiring in St. Petersburg, Florida. Mrs. Buchanan was a wonderful wife, mother and grandparent who adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She traveled many years and miles back and forth from Florida to North Carolina to be with family and friends in their time of need and to visit. She was a loving and sweet person, loved by all and will be forever missed.
Mrs. Buchanan was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan Campbell and Erma Matthews Williams; brothers Milton and Herman Williams and sister, Marie Williams Black. Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her husband, John Buchanan of Fayetteville, N.C.; one son, Steve Autry, Jr. of Buies Creek, N.C.: two daughters, Connie Autry Jacobs of Clearwater, Florida and Ramona Autry of St. Petersburg, Florida; one brother, Wendell Williams and wife Helen of Wade, N.C.: one sister, Evelene Leslie and husband Franklin of Eastover, N.C.; Five grandchildren; Billy Hendrix, Graeme and Jackie Jacobs, Heather Hodge and husband, Richard, and Stephen Autry, Ill; three great-grandchildren Aysen, Rayne and Gabriel Hodge.
The family will receive friends 12 to 1 lpm Friday November 25, 2011, at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service and Crematory. Funeral services will be held at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Williams Memorial Cemetery in Clement.
