Betty Price

Betty Baker Price, age 76, passed away Friday, December 9 after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Betty was born in Dunn, North Carolina on December 26, 1945, daughter of the late James and Viola Baker.  She attended Central High School in Eastover, North Carolina and Mars Hill University before ultimately returning to Eastover in 1978 where she lived with her husband of nearly 56 years, Millard Price.

Family meant everything to Betty.  She sacrificed so much for her children, pushing them to be their best in all things through unwavering belief, commitment, and sheer will.  Her children learned the value of integrity, loyalty, and compassion, and gained the ability to approach life with curiosity and an open mind.

Betty’s welcoming and warm personality touched everyone she met.  She had a smile that would light up a room.  She exhibited authentic kindness, compassion, and concern for others, regularly volunteering to care for the sick in the community and playing piano and singing for residents at local nursing homes.  It meant so much to her and gave her such joy.

Church, faith, and prayer were integral to Betty’s life.  She was active in the church singing for many years in the choir and leading multiple prayer groups that met regularly to pray for the sick and those in need.  She treasured her relationship with Jesus Christ and cherished any opportunity to share her testimony with others.

Betty loved fall, the change of seasons, and the Christmas holiday.  She enjoyed gardening and being outside with nature, always able to identify the local flora.  She loved to sing and could cook the best food imaginable.  With an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily chores, Betty always maintained a beautiful, clean, and tidy home with pride.

Betty was our anchor, our sounding board, our motivation, and so much more.  She made our family whole and our house a home, and she will forever have a place in our hearts.

Betty is survived by her husband, Millard Price; her children, Erin and Andy Hamrick, Jonah and Jen Price, and Julie and Sebastien Wolff; her siblings, Gayle Baker, Jimmy Baker, and Kathy Dalton; her grandchildren Lila, Van, and Ada Cate Hamrick, and Audrey Wolff.
