FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Anita Powell Weaver, of 432 Brightwood Drive died Monday, June 6, 2011. She was originally from Dunnellon, Fla., and came to Fayetteville with her husband, Dr. Roy A. Weaver, in 1971.

She is a graduate of Stetson University of Deland, Fla., with a degree in education. She was a leader in her garden club and in the Cumberland County and North Carolina Medical Auxiliaries. She was a true friend to associates in her book club and among the "Birthday Girls." She was a member of the the Sandhills Orchid Society and loved growing orchids. She was born April 16, 1937, to the late Paul and Florence Powell of Dunnellon.

Roy and Anita celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2010. Mrs. Weaver is survived by her husband, Dr. Roy Weaver; three children, Mike and wife Rebecca Coffin of Fayetteville, Gail and husband Albert Mrozek of Raleigh, Gary and wife Ann Marie Riedy of Raleigh. Grandchildren are: Caleb and Luke Weaver of Fayetteville, Jordan Mrozek of Alexandria Virginia, Matthew Mrozek and John Mrozek of Raleigh; and Genevieve Weaver and Abigail Weaver of Raleigh.
Anita was predeceased by her sister, Florine Powell; and her parents of Dunnellon. Many of Anita's cousins live in Wayne County and Sampson County; as well as a much loved cousin, Wayne Powell and his family in Dunnellon.

Funeral services are entrusted to Sullivan's Highland Funeral Home & Crematory in Fayetteville. A memorial service will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011, with a reception following in the fellowship hall. The memorial service will be preceded by a private family burial at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery, U.S. 301 S., Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cape Fear Botanical Gardens; First Presbyterian Church; Highland Presbyterian Church; or to one's favorite charity.
