Tamara "Tammi" Lee SessomsOctober 13, 1981 ~ January 1, 2018 (age 36)
Tamara Lee Sessoms, 36, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after giving birth to a healthy baby girl.
Tammi was preceded in death by her paternal Grandparents, Courtney and Annabelle (Smithfield) Lee. Also her maternal Grandfather, Walter A. Kohl and maternal Grandmother, Diane (LaTulip) Kohl.
Tammi was born October 13. 1981 in Rochester, NY.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Sessoms, infant daughter, Lillian Noelle, parents, Rick and Micki Lee, maternal grandmother, Rosemarie Kohl, mother in law, Linda Sessoms (Bruce Eskow), father in law, Michael Sessoms (Beverly), sister in law, Rebekah Maples (Rick Lawson), numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tammi earned her Bachlor of Science in child psychology and early childhood education and Masters of Education from The Ohio State University, where she was a member of the Phi Sigma Pi Honor Fraternity. She was recruited at OSU to teach in the Cumberland County School District, first at Manchester Elementary, where she was awarded Spring Lake Kiwanis Club Educator of the Year of Manchester Elementary 2012-2013, Teacher of the Year of Manchester Elementary 2013-2014 and Spring Lake Kiwanis Club Educator of the Year of Manchester Elementary 2015-2016. Currently, she was teaching first grade at Sherwood Park Elementary.
It has been heart warming to read stories of Tammi's many kindnesses towards her fellow students, Fraternity Brothers, fellow teachers, her students and their families. She was loved and will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends from 3 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm on Friday, January 12, at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service and Crematory.
A funeral Mass will be said Saturday, January 13, at St Patrick's Catholic Church.
A light luncheon will follow in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to go towards Lillian's education fund.
